Rent a leather or denim jacket for your wedding day!
My good friend Jackie, who owns Sixpence Bridal Studio in Guelph, has come up with one of the best ideas for the wedding industry! The gorgeous little boutique is located in the heart of downtown and focuses on consigned wedding dresses in every size and style. In 2018 the average cost for wedding accessories is $400 CDN according to The Knot (https://www.theknot.com/content/average-cost-of-wedding-dress)! That’s a lot of money! Well Jackie has provided a way to reduce the cost of your wedding accessories, make you look super funky, and it’s helping the environment - that’s a massive win in the wedding industry!!
I asked Jackie a few questions and here is what she had to say!
What was the idea behind the jackets?
"I wanted to give brides a more cost effective and eco friendly way to indulge in this fairly new trend. Brides are always looking for different ways to express themselves and have a little fun with their photos. The jackets are a fun way to lighten up the mood and bring out a bride's personality. A bride can rent a jacket for her day without breaking her budget or worrying about getting one made for herself."
What sizes are available?
'Just Married' - size Small/Medium
'Mrs' - size Medium/Large
'Bride' - size Small/Medium
'Just Married' - size Medium/Large
'Bride' - size XLarge-XXLarge
The jackets are sized this way because they can be worn more fitted or baggy - totally depends on the style you are looking for!
How will the rental work?
'Each jacket is rented for $65.00 CDN. There is a security deposit of $50.00 required on the initial rental. This will be returned once the jacket has been given back to the store. When interested in a jacket please book a 30 minute appointment via our website or phone call to the store. You are welcome to bring your dress to try it on and see if it is the look you are going for. Each jacket is on a first come service. There will be no holds. Book in advance to make sure you aren't disappointed!'
What is the process of making the jackets?
'First, I met with a local artist, Allie Charbonneau to talk to her about designing the logos. Her style was exactly what I wanted for a very feminine, floral look. I gave All the titles I wanted and she worked her magic. Once the designs are finished I took them to get digitized and embroidered. Each jacket has it's own custom, hand sewn touches, making them unique to Sixpence Bridal Studio.'
We did a funky styled shoot at La Reina, a new Mexican restaurant in downtown Guelph, to show off these amazing pieces! We worked with some real rockstars for this shoot. The boho-funk wedding bouquets were provided by Snowberry Botanicals - one bouquet has tassels and the other had a black fringe!!! Meghan Barbour did the makeup for our amazing local models Sarah Landry (aka TheBirdsPapaya) and her best friend Ariana Chhina. Sixpence of course provided the wedding dresses and jackets! The vibe of the restaurant was PERFECT for the shoot!
