Erin and Sly had original wedding plans to get married in Tamarindo Costa Rica in March 2020 - they had to quickly change their plans as this was right at the beginning of lockdown and non-essential international travel was banned. They decided to move the wedding to December 2020 in the hopes that they would be able to travel. With a second lockdown looming, Erin and Sly changed their plans yet again to postpone the destination wedding and do a ceremony in Toronto with a small backyard reception in early October 2020.
Erin got ready at their home with her sisters, best friends and family. Erin rented a beautiful bridal dress from Fitzroy Rentals (SUCH a good idea for eco-conscious brides!). Sly got ready at a friend’s house with his best buddies. They wrote their vows to each other and read them quietly before they did their first look in the backyard. After some kisses and a few photos, we headed to SOOS restaurant in downtown Toronto. The couple chose the Malaysian restaurant (part time vegan!) because it was a place they frequented with friends - and coincidentally owned by a high school friend of theirs
SOOS did an incredible job of ensuring the government safety measures were met - with 30 people in the restaurant for the wedding, they carefully organized a rotating cocktail hour at the bar and had plexi-glass up for the tables.
Alex, Erin’s sister, did beautiful work with the design of the space for the day. She incorporated the tropical Costa Rica theme for the floral arrangements and had embossed napkins with Erin and Sly on them! No detail was missed!
The delicious brunch consisted of Pork Belly Toast, their infamous Prosperity Tossed Slaw, Rempah Fried Chicken & Waffles, Char Kway Teow and dessert. After we stuffed our faces, we headed back to Erin and Sly’s house for a charcuterie to rival all charcuteries. We snapped some family photos - even some with their pup Stella - and then they enjoyed s’mores by the fire.
